Abstract
Ambient intelligence in hospitals is an emerging technology characterized by constant awareness of activity in designated physical spaces. It assists health care workers, such as physicians and nurses, in delivering quality care. Advances in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly computer vision, have driven applications based on continuous video capture. The goal is to serve as a fatigue-free observer at patient bedsides, monitoring for deviations from intended practices. However, this technology raises ethical and legal concerns related to privacy, consent, and liability.
